Graph the linear equation by using slope-intercept method :

The equation y = - (1/2)x - 4.

Compare the above equation with slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

Slope : m = - 1/2 and y-intercept : b = - 4.

y-intercept is - 4, so the line crosses the y-axis at (0, - 4).

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = - 1/2

Start at point (0, - 4), move 1 unit down (-4-1 = -5) and 2 units right (0+2 = 2), then plot the point (2, -5).

Draw a line through these points.
