1) Remember the line equation with x and y intercepts is x/a+y/b = 1

Here x intercept a = 4 ,y intercept b = -2

Plug in the values in the above equation.

x/4+y/-2 = 1

(x-2y)/4 = 1

x-2y = 4

The points are (1, 2), (0, -1) and (-1, -4).

Write the line equation by using any two points from the given points.

The two points are (x1, y1) = (1, 2) and (x2, y2) = (-1, -4).

Substitute the values of (x1, y1) = (1, 2) and (x2, y2) = (-1, -4) in the two-points form of line equation : y - y1 = [(y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)] * (x - x1).

y - (2) = [{(-4) - 2} / {(-1) - 1}] * (x - 1)

y - 2 = [-6 / (-2)] * (x - 1)

y - 2 = 3(x - 1)

y - 2 = 3x - 3

y = 3x - 1.

To check the line equation, substitute the remaining point  value of (x, y) = (0, -1) in the obtained line equation.

(-1) ≟ 3(0) - 1 ⇒ -1 = -1.

The above statement is true, so the remaining point is also lie on the equation y = 3x - 1.

The line equation is y = 3x - 1.
