p + 3/4 = 9/10

Subtract 3/4 from each side.

p + 3/4 - 3/4 = 9/10 - 3/4

Least common mulitiple of 10,4 is 20.

p  = [2(9)-3(5)]/20

p  = (18-15)/20

Solution p  = 3/20.

Check :

p + 3/4 = 9/10

3/20 + 3/4 = 9/10

(3+15)/20 = 9/10

18/20 = 9/10

9/10 = 9/10.
