The equation is a x + 5 x - 4 = 10.

a x + 5 x = 10 + 4

a x + 5 x = 14

x ( a + 5 ) = 14

x = 14 / ( a + 5 ).

therefore  x = 14 / ( a + 5 ).

Option C is the correct choice.
