The line equation - 9x - 3y = 3

Write the above equation in slope - intercept form line equation is y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y - intercept.

- 9x - 3y = 3

- 3y = 9x + 3

y = (9x)/(- 3) + (3)/(-3)

y = - 3x - 1

Slope of the line (m1) = - 3.

Because the slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals, the slope of perpendicular is 1/3.

Now, the perpendicular line equation is y = (1/3)x + b.

Find the y - intercept by substituting (x, y) = (0, 3)

3 = (1/3)0 + b

b = 3

The perpendicular line equation is y = (x/3) + 3.
