Eliminaion method

Given equation 2x+5y =17

Multiple o each side by negiive 3.

-6x-15y = -51 ---------> (1)

And 6x-5y = -9 -----------> (2)

To eliminae the x value add the equaions (1) and (2).

-6x-15y = -51

6x-5y = -9

___________

-20y = -60

Divide to each side by negitive 20.

-20y/-20 = -60/-20

y = 3

Substiue the y value in (1).

-6x-15*3 =-51

-6x-45 = -51

Add 45 to each side.

-6x-45+45 = -51+45

-6x = -6

Divide to each side by negitive 6.

-6x/-6 = -6/-6

x =1

Solution is x = 1, y = 3.
