Width of rectangle is say  = x

Length of rectangle = x+3

Perimeter is 2(l+b) = 42

2(x+x+3) = 42

2(2x+3) = 42

4x+6 = 42

Subtract 6 from each side.

4x+6-6 = 42-6

4x =36

Divide to each side by 4.

4x/4 = 36/4

x = 9  = b

l = x+3 = 9+3 = 12

Area = l*b

= 12*9

Area = 108squre cm
