x^2+6x = 2

Subtract 2 from each side.

x^2+6x-2 = 2-2

x^2+6x-2 = 0

Compare it quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c = 0

a = 1, b = 6, c = -2

Roots are x = [-b±√(b^2-4ac)]/2a

x = [-6±√(36+8)]2

x = [-6±√44]/2

x = [-6±2√11]/2

x = 2[-3±3.31]/2

x = -3±3.31

x  = -3+3.31 and x = -3-3.31

Solution x = 0.31 and x = -6.31
