Quadratic equation is ax^2+bx+c = 0.

2x^2-12+4x = (x-2)^2+2

2x^2-12+4x = x^2+4-4x+2

Bring all terms to one side.

2x^2-12+4x-x^2-4+4x-2 = 0

x^2+8x-18 = 0
