Given line x -4y = 28

Subtract x from each side.

x-x-4y = 28-x

-4y = 28-x

Divide to each side by negitive 4.

-4y/-4 = 28/-4-x/-4

y = (1/4)x-7

Slope of the given line say m1 = 1/4

Slope of the perpendicular line is say m2 .

We know that m1*m2 = -1

so m2 = -4.

Required slope of the line = -4.
