Given equation 2x+8y = 16

Subtract 2x from each side.

2x-2x+8y = 16-2x

8y = -2x+16

Divide to each side by 8.

8y/8 = (-2x+16)/8

y = (-1/4)x+2

Compare it to slope intercept form y = mx+b

m = -1/4 and y intercept is 2.

Slope - intercept form line equation is y = mx + b where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

The line equation is 2x + 8y = 16

Move x variable to right hand side by subtracting 2x from each side

8y = -2x + 16

Divide each side by 8

y = -1/4 x + 2

The line equation in slope intercept form is y = -1/4x + 2
